Space to Breathe
My name’s Andy Freeman and in April 2017 I launched Space to Breathe as a Community Interest Company.  We’ve just completed our first year.  I was warned at the start of its journey that running your own business meant jumping off cliffs most days.  That’s been true, there’s been so much to learn and do and this is why I love a network like SSEN as it gives you fellow self-starters to chat too.

I hope I can do the same for others too. Space to Breathe is all about wellbeing and we use ordinary non-religious spirituality as a tool in this. In my life I’d observed the wonderful resource spirituality could be but how it was often out of reach of ordinary people – too much language, too many rules and regulations.  What might happen if ordinary people got their hands on it?   I was struck too by the enormous strain and pressure many people felt – in work, in communities, in families, in their own lives.  What if I put the two together?

Space to Breathe has had a good first year and plenty of promise for its second.   Sheffield is a great place to start a business and its been brilliant to connect with other entrepreneurs around the city.  What we hear so often is that people know wellbeing is an important issue but often don’t know what to do about it.  Our work is to come alongside firms who feel that way and help and to partner with others looking to do the same.   I’d love to hear from you if this resonates with you.
